Alison Embrey Medina is the executive editor of design:retail magazine (formerly DDI), the premier U.S. publication covering the retail design industry. Through the pages of DDI, she covers and comments on retail store design, visual merchandising, architecture, marketing and branding, from luxury and specialty to discount and dollar stores.

Medina regularly gives trend presentations on store design and visual merchandising at myriad U.S. industry events, in addition to retail design conferences in Germany, France, Hong Kong, Brazil, Turkey, Canada and Mexico. In her 11 years covering the retail design industry, she has spanned the globe, always researching new and exciting trends and looking to uncover new inspirations in the far corners of the world.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in magazine journalism from The University of Georgia’s Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, and currently resides in Atlanta with her husband Carlos, 2-year-old daughter Maddie and lovable pit bull Harry.
